Welcome to Gardens by Design

There is nothing more rewarding for me than creating a garden that works both in its design and in its use for the client. Creating a garden combines many skills; artistic, horticultural, technical, people skills and an ability to think in layers, to imagine how the planting will develop and flower over the seasons and years. Bringing together all these skills is a challenge that I relish.

Above all, I believe that building and maintaining a good relationship with the client during and after the garden design stage is essential. Receiving regular feedback on the garden’s development and as the planting reaches maturity only enhances the garden design experience, not only for me but for all involved.

I have an extensive portfolio to view on consultation, some of my gardens you can see on this website, and all the photographs are from gardens of mine. I have many happy clients who are available as references if required.

New services for 2011

This year I will continue to provide a service at Burston Garden Centre near St.Albans, where I am available for on the spot horticultural and design advice on certain Sundays. If you are a new or existing client and would like further advice meet me there and we can discuss ideas and look at the centres extensive plant display . Of course if you prefer I can provide a more in depth consultation in your own garden to explore design and planting issues and explain the design process.

You can also press my twitter button and sign up for my daily feeds, telling you what you can do in your garden right now
