Contemporary London garden

This design was created for a newly married couple who wanted to entertain their friends. The garden was to have a clean contemporary feel and unfussy planting. They also, like many current of my clients, are keen to grow fruit and vegetables

What we did:

• We removed the unstable surface and steps of an old patio

• We created a larger more generous patio to allow for eating and relaxation

• We used Blue slate and white rendered walls to reflect the new slate coloured French windows and rendered walls of the house

• We created green structure to enhance the hard landscaping using box hedging, bay trees and herbs softened in the summer with perennials

• We created a focal point from the house of shrubs at the bottom of the garden

• We integrated the vegetable and fruit beds within the formal modern design of the garden
